St. Mary’s and Old Parish linked with Teviot and Roberton
The churches of St. Mary’s and Old Parish and Teviot and Roberton have been successfully linked since 2013. We have a united celebration of Communion four times a year. On the last Sunday and first Sunday of the year there is a united service (together with the other South Grouping churches) along with united services in the months of July and August. There is also at least one joint Kirk Session meeting each year.
Teviot and Roberton hold a very successful Megamix event on in-service days and at other times which is open to youngsters from all congregations or none and help and support are readily given by St. Mary’s and Old.
A new chapter in the life of our two congregations wil begin on Sunday 1st September 2024 when the union of St Mary's & Old Parish Church, Teviot & Roberton Church, and Trinity Parish Church takes place to form Hawick South Church of Scotland. There will then be one Sunday morning service at 10.30am in what is currently the Teviot building in St George's Lane with occasional services in the other church buildings until their future is determined. A new Hawick South Church website will be set up soon.
