Safeguarding

Safeguarding

Harm or abuse of children and adults at risk can happen anywhere - even in church communities. We have a duty to ensure a safe church for all. The Church of Scotland aims to minimise the risk of harm occurring. If harm or abuse does occur the Church of Scotland Safeguarding Service provides appropriate support and training so that it will be recognised and reported, and will work with the Police and Social Work services if appropriate. Within our congregations, the Safeguarding Coordinators act on behalf of the Kirk Session to help ensure that the Church of Scotland Safeguarding procedures operate in the congregation. They are the first point of contact regarding Safeguarding concerns. Their contact details and other useful information follow.
